Introduction
Migraine is a chronic illness characterized by recurrent, severe, and pulsating headaches affecting one side of the head, and lasting for hours to days. Patients frequently experience nausea, vomiting, and sensitivity to light and sound. Some people experience aura before an episode of migraine headache. The cause of migraine headaches is not known but environmental and genetic factors are believed to be involved. There is no cure for migraine but medications can reduce the frequency and severity of headaches. Analgesics and Triptans are commonly used to treat an episode of migraine.

Ayurveda believes that migraine headaches are caused by a variety of factors which include: inadequate sleep, overexertion / overwork, worry / anxiety / stress, indigestion / constipation, and upper respiratory infection.
